OK World w letters

Josemi (ES) – Khaled (LB) – Shri (IN) – Bugge (NO) – Vivek (IN) – Amade (MZ)

OK World Ensemble is featuring amazing musicians from Lebanon, Mozambique, India on percussions, Flamenco guitar by Spanish star Josemi Carmona, Bass/ Flute from UK by Shri (of Badmarsh&Shri) and Bugge Wesseltoft from Norway on piano and analog synthesizer.

The OK World musicians decided to perform first in each member’s country in 2012 to write & record new compositions, do workshops & concerts with local talents and students.

The full journey is being filmed to become a full length documentary screened at concerts.

Shrikanth Sriram (UK/India) and Bugge Wesseltoft (Norway) have for a long time wanted to start a group featuring some of the best musicians from around the globe. This is now turning into reality, bringing along with them famous flamenco guitarist Josemi Carmona from Madrid, drummer Amade Cossa from Maputo, percussionist Khaled Yassine from Beirut and Vivek Rajagopolan from Mumbai.

The basic idea of OK World is that the band will meet in all the home countries of each musician, spend a week together and create music that is influenced by the city they are in, by the history in the buildings, by the smell in the backstreets, by the people they meet, by the music they listen to and of course by different audiences around the world. These meetings, between people, artists and audiences create interest and understanding of those values that lie in others cultural expressions. In a world that is constantly changing, the music is a global language.

The first stops and kick off of OK World is in Mumbai and Delhi, at blueFROG in April 2012, followed by Beirut, Maputo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid, Oslo World music Festival in the fall 2013. The band will be followed around by a film crew making a documentary about the ensemble and their travels around the world.
