Håkon Kornstad is a Norwegian jazz saxophonist, known for his projects Wibutee, Kornstad Trio, Kornstad/Wiik Duo, and most recently for his solo saxophone concerts and venture into opera repertoire.
In 2009 he started taking singing lessons, and finished a master’s degree as classically trained tenor at the Norwegian Opera Academy in Oslo in 2014. He has performed at the Norwegian National Opera. In his Kornstad Ensemble he combines Scandinavian jazz improvisations with opera arias and lieder.
In 2017 he debuts as an orchestra arranger and composer.
Håkon Kornstad has been awarded the Buddy Award from the Norwegian Jazz Federation. He has been nominated for Norwegian Grammy several times, and been listed in the Downbeat Critics Poll.
